Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes fight rumors: 'The Terror' willing to come out of retirement to face 'Hall Monitor' Hughes in grudge match

Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra is willing to come out of retirement for one fight.

The Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt officially walked away from professional mixed martial arts competition in 2013, after 14 years. He last fought in 2010 against fellow Ultimate Fighter Season 4 cast member Chris Lytle, but lost by unanimous decision.

He left with the sport with a record of 11-7, with nine victories by stoppage.

Now 41 years old, "The Terror" has been busy running his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools in New York City. But in a recent report by MMA Fighting.com, Serra says he is willing to come out of retirement to settle the score with one fighter: former long-time welterweight champion Matt Hughes.

Hughes and Serra fought in 2009, in a grudge-filled match from when they were coaches at the sixth season of the Ultimate Fighter. Unfortunately for Serra, he lost by unanimous decision.

According to him, UFC president Dana White has yet to entertain the idea, but if given the chance, Serra says he will gladly take on the challenge.

"I can't stand that guy," Serra said. "I don't even want to say anything because I know I'm not going to get to smack him or anything. If they said, 'Matt, let's do this,' I'd say, 'I need six months,' because I'm a professional."

"I never missed weight. I'd have to get into a training camp. I'm not doing that for my health."

Hughes has since been given a post in the UFC's corporate branch, as the Vice President of Athlete Development and Government Relations. While he has yet to make a recent comment on the matter, Serra, on the other hand, is determined to come out and settle the score, event if it meant dropping his Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).

"I'm not the type of guy to be begging for a fight. Don't get me wrong, if I thought there was any way it could happen I'd be, 'F*** yea! Let's do it,' but in the meantime, I'm on TRT. I'd have to get off the TRT."
