Mayweather-Berto fight September 12 preview: Is this Mayweather's last match?

Floyd Mayweather is all set to fight with Andre Berto on Sept. 12 and this will reportedly be his last fight as a professional boxer.

If Mayweather's statement turns out to be true, Sept. 12 will be the last time that he will fight as a pro boxer. He is aiming to defeat Andre Berto and chalk one more point to his unbeaten record and bring it to 49-0, according to Bloody Elbow.

Berto, on the other hand, is already considered as a boxer who has already seen his best years. In his last six fights, he achieved a record of 3-3. He is a talented boxer, but he has not even reached the top 10 Welterweight fighters in Ring Magazine's list, the report details.

Questions have come up about Berto's qualifications in facing an all-time champion boxer. The public will have to wait and see how many fans will watch the Sept. 12 match just to see if this will really be Mayweather's last bout.

Last Friday, Showtime's "All Access: Mayweather vs. Berto" gave fans a half-hour preview into the Sept. 12 fight. In the show's first episode, the two pro boxers were seen training and expressing their confidence for the upcoming match, Bleacher Report states.

Mayweather was also featured showing off his running jump shot in a pickup basketball game with Boston Celtics player Isaiah Thomas. But the highlight of the show was Mayweather's decision to choose Berto as his opponent for his supposedly last fight, the report says.

"Within the first few minutes Floyd says that it was clear that Manny Pacquiao couldn't bring out the best in him," said Bad Left Hook's Scott Christ. "And that he believes Andre Berto is the man for the job — also adding in that Berto doesn't get as much credit as he deserves."

For those loyal enough to follow the fight, they will fortunately be able to witness a thrilling undercard bout. Roman Martinez will face off with Orlando Salido, while Badou Jack will fight George Groves in a pair of matches that will be broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV). The PPV opener also has an action-filled match for viewers wherein Jhonny Gonzales will fight opposite Jonathan Oquendo.
