Mega Millions Drawing August 16, Tuesday Recap

No one won the estimated jackpot prize of $52 million in the previous Mega Millions drawing this week. However, two people were able to match all five white balls. One won $1 million while the other who opted for the Megaplier managed to win $5 million, according to the official Mega Millions website.

There were a total of 19 people who matched the four white balls and the yellow ball. There were 17 who got $5,000, but two opted for the Megaplier and raised their winnings to $25,000 each.

$5 million Mega Millions Winnings
The ticket holder who won $5 million in the last Mega Millions drawing last Tuesday, Aug. 16 has not come forward. The ticket was apparently purchased in Vermont and lottery officials are looking forward to the winner, WPTZ reported.

Vermont Lottery spokesman Jeff Cavendar told the outlet that Vermont has never had a Mega Millions winner as big as $5 million. "The extra dollar spent for the Megaplier gained this lucky ticket holder an extra $4 million. It's great for our players and agents," he said.

How, Where to Play Mega Millions
Each Mega Millions ticket costs $1 and opting for the Megaplier option costs $1 more. The Megaplier feature multiplies the player's winnings except for the jackpot prize.

Players should pick 5 different numbers ranging from 1 to 75 for the white balls and 1 number ranging from 1 to 15 for the yellow ball. In the case where the Mega Millions jackpot is won, the game resets with the jackpot starting at $15 million and grows by $5 million after each drawing where no one wins the jackpot prize.

Mega Millions can be played in all 44 states in the US. This also includes the US Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.
