A Bigger Jackpot Prize Awaits Lucky Winners

The jackpot prize for Mega Millions continues to climb as it reaches $260 million ($173 million cash option) for Tuesday's draw.
There was no winning bettor during the June 3 draw, which had the jackpot combination of 32-54-65-66-71-10. The previous jackpot was $251 million, the Mega Millions official website announced. Now, bettors have a bigger chance to win a higher jackpot prize for Tuesday's 11 p.m. draw.
The hefty jackpot prize was the result of having 25 draws with no declared winner, NJ.com said. A man from Washington previously took home the $157 prize last March 8, which was the last time the lottery prize was won.
In an announcement, Mega Millions noted that the jackpot for Tuesday will be the largest one in the history of the game, especially if someone will be able to get the winning combination. Last Friday, a bettor from Long Beach, California, almost won the jackpot. However, he only got five out of the six numbers and settled with the second prize.
Even though there is still no jackpot winner, an estimated 3.4 million winning tickets were sold for various prizes. About 4.1 million of these lucky winners added a Megaplier for their bets, which multiplies the amount they won by five times.
The Mega Millions website added that there were Megaplier numbers for the bettors who won $5 million in Wyoming, $4 million in Texas and $3 million in North Dakota, among others. The lottery has given away millions of money to other ticket winners in the past draws.
For those interested to play, they can buy a Mega Millions lottery ticket costing $1 for every play. The mechanics of the game state that players should pick six numbers -- five from numbers 1 to 75 and another number from 1 to 15. Players can also opt for the electronically generated Easy Pick.
A winner is determined if a bettor gets all six winning numbers. The jackpot prize of the lottery begins at $15 million, increasing by $5 million every draw when there are no lucky winners.
Mega Millions can be played in 44 states in the country including the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington D.C. Bettors should be prepared to lose even after a series of tries since NJ.com notes that the odds of buying the winning ticket is 1 to 258 million.
