Four Match 5 Winning Tickets Last Friday

Four players got the Match 5 winning tickets last Friday, July 1. Two winners, one from New York and the other from Massachusetts, won $1 million each, while the two others, one from Pennsylvania and the other from Oklahoma, got $2 million for including the optional 2x Megaplier.

Previous Mega Million Jackpot Winners

So far, only two winners have won the Mega Million jackpot this year. The first one was Nancy Viola, who won on Jan. 8. She won $169 million. The second one was won last March 8 by Michael Burkett of Washington. He won $157 million.

March 30, 2012 saw the biggest Mega Millions jackpot prize at $656 million. The winnings were shared by three persons. Also, on November 4, 2014, the largest prize on a single ticket was given, worth $326 million.

How Can I Play?

Mega Millions tickets are worth $1 per play. The mechanics of the game can be accessed here. In the game, players should choose six numbers. Each of the first five numbers is a number between 1 and 75 inclusive (silver numbers), then another number between 1 and 15 inclusive is chosen (gold number).

Players can also use the option to Easy Pick, which basically means a computer will randomly generate a number combination for the bettor.

To win the jackpot, each number should be matched and in the right order during the draw. The draw starts with a value of $15 million and increases by at least $5 million each time.

Payment Options

There are two options for payment. First is the annuity option. In this option, the jackpot player receives one payment right away, followed by 29 yearly payments. Each year, the pay is bigger by 5% than the previous year's pay. Another option is the cash option, a one-time lump-sum pay.

Aside from the jackpot, there are smaller prizes based on how many number matches bettors can make. For example, you can get a prize of $500 if you make four matches among the silver numbers and your gold number doesn't match.
