Melissa Benoist caught in a love triangle in 'Supergirl' TV series
The upcoming drama series "Supergirl" recently confirmed that the major story line of the show will focus on the love triangle between Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist), James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), and Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). This new superhero show will incorporate some elements of Superman's extended mythology, and will be reinvented to give a more contemporary feel to its audience.
According to the two lead actors during an interview with Comic Book Resources, the characters' love story will be complicated since Kara will also be focused on saving the world. "I don't think it's going to be easy for anybody in the fact that, one, we're all millennials, sort of trying to live our lives. We're all focused on career," said Brooks.
Jordan also added that Kara is serious about her mission to keep everyone safe from her enemies. "Maybe it will be one of us. Maybe none. Maybe somebody else. But I think definitely, there will be a romantic element to the show," Jordan said when asked who will Supergirl end up with between Winn and James.
Even if the show's more inclined to the love lives of the characters, both actors claimed that Supergirl is still a family-centered program. "I think it's a show that everybody can watch. And it's something that sends a really positive message," said Jordan.
The series is written and produced by Ali Adler, Sarah Shechter, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg. The story will revolve on Kara's life as an ordinary assistant, and how she hides her super powers. But due to an unexpected disaster, she was forced to reveal her powers to be able save her sister. This opens the path for Kara to become Supergirl, and must embrace her new role, in order to rescue the world.
Supergirl will air on CBS starting this Oct. 26.
