Michael Jackson Billboard Awards Hologram Blows Fans Away (VIDEO)

Michael Jackson virtually appeared on stage at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, much to the delight of fans.

The late singer, who died in 2009, performed his hit new song "Slave to the Rhythm" from his posthumous album "Xscape" and received a standing ovation. Fans were impressed and some were even moved to tears while watching Jackson perform his famous moon walk in hologram form.

The high tech visuals made appear as though Jackson was performing in the flesh alongside dancers. The hologram featured him wearing a gold jacket and red pants and sporting one of his trademark hairdos.

"Amazing!! Best billboards performance of the night #RIPMJ," one seemingly impressed fan tweeted.

"Michael Jackson has resurrected. There is no way that performance last night was a hologram," another wrote.

"The Hologram of MJ is extraordinary. Mind blown," one fan tweeted.

A federal judge in Nevada ruled Friday that the Billboard Music Awards could use the hologram despite objections from various tech companies.

The hologram mirrors that of late rapper Tupac Shakur, who virtually took to the stage at Coachella back in 2012. Tupac joined Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on stage for the smash hit "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" and fans, including Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur, were thrilled with the performance.

Snoop made an appearance at the Billboard awards and joined singer Jason Derulo on stage for Derulo's single "Wiggle."

Other Billboard performers included Miley Cyrus, who teamed up with The Flaming Lips to perform The Beatles classic "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."

Rapper Pitbull joined Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Lette for "We Are One (Ole Ole)," the official anthem of the 2014 World Cup.

Pop star Katy Perry sang "Birthday," Lorde performed "Tennis Court" and Miranda Lambert teamed up with Carrie Underwood to perform "Somethin' Bad."
