Michael Schumacher: Son Mick Talks of His Dad, Calls Him 'Simply the Best'

As racing legend Michael Schumacher continues his grueling recovery process almost four years after his freak ski accident in the French Alps, his son Mick Schumacher, keeps the love alive whether he is on the race track or out.

Mick is close to his debut in Formula One, as he is set to take part in the European F3 series this season, which is believed to be the final step before F1.

There is no better role model for the 18-year-old Schumacher than his father, who happens to be a seven-time F1 world champion, which is what Mick wants to become someday.

"My idol is my dad," Mick told the German broadcaster RTL as quoted by Autoweek. "Simply because he is the best. He is my role model," he went on to say.

His dreams are not too far from becoming reality. The younger Schumacher has proven himself to be an amazing racer. In fact, he is already a brand ambassador for Mercedes and is even invited to join Ferrari's young driver program.

Mick, however, is in no rush and is just savoring what the present has to offer. "I'm doing it my way for the moment. What the future brings, we'll see," he said.

The Schumacher family remains silent about the current condition of Mick's father. They have requested complete media blackout as Schumacher recovers.

Of course, the family of the racing champ is thankful for the prayers and support of Schumacher's fans, who are hoping to see him back on his feet soon.

According to Drive.com.au, there are already talks about Schumacher returning to Formula One with Ferrari not looking to intervene if he decides to do so, provided his affiliation with the company will be severed.

"If he takes another road our agreement will no longer be valid. You can't work with a competitor and with us at the same time," Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said.

"I still haven't spoken to him about it. He is only a dear friend, not a team member. He is a consultant for our road cars," he went on to say.
