Michael Schumacher Fans Hope For Updates On F1 Legend's Health; Lewis Hamilton Dedicates Pole Record to German Racer
Little is known about the health condition of Michael Schumacher, and it is likely that the public will be kept in the dark for a while. However, fans continue to search for updates on their beloved F1 legend.
According to a poll conducted by Wheels24, about 11,830 people out of the 20,400 who voted would at least "like to know if he's okay." More than 5,000 people, however, believe that the German racer and his family are entitled to their privacy at this trying time. Meanwhile, about 3,000 people think that his health records should be released to the public.
Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's manager, has previously said that no updates will be released, though. If Kehm or Schumacher's family do not change their minds, then it looks like fans will just have to keep hoping and praying for the best.
And while nothing definitive is known about his current state, there remains hope that the Formula One champion is on the road to recovery.
It can be recalled that Schumacher had a skiing accident in France back in December 2013 that left him with a brain injury. The trauma was so bad that he had to be placed in a medically induced coma. He was then relocated to a hospital in Switzerland before being moved back home, where he privately gets treated.
Fellow F1 racer Lewis Hamilton recently beat Schumacher's pole record. Hamilton dedicated it to his long-time idol.
"For everything he did for the sport and raising that bar and to be able to raise that bar once more is an honour," Hamilton said. "I would love to speak to his wife and see how things are but time will tell. It is an awesome way to pay homage and respect to him as a great, and kind of picking up the baton from him."
