Michelle Trachtenberg as Harvey Oswald Wife in New Role: "Killing Kennedy" (VIDEO)

In the first photos released of cast members set to star in "Killing Kennedy," a movie about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Michelle Trachtenberg appears to have a whole new, hardly recognizable look.

The former "Gossip Girl" actress appears all grown up in her new role as Marina, the wife of Harvey Oswald. Oswald was accused of assassinating president John F. Kennedy in 1963. Pleading innocence, he was killed by Jack Ruby before he could be tried in court. Conspiracy theories later surfaced alleging that the president's murder had been planned.

Oswald's wife has continued to uphold that her husband is innocent. Now 71, she currently lives in Dallas, Texas where she remarried and has two sons.

"I am so excited for the challenge to portray Marina Oswald, and to do my first role speaking only in Russian," Trachtenberg said last month in an interview with Us Weekly. "I'm the only actor playing someone who is still alive, so I want to stay as true to her as possible. This is a story about JFK's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald and his wife Marina. And it is fascinating."

Photos of the actress dressed as Marina surfaced online this week. In the pictures, the former troublemaker in "Gossip Girl" seems nowhere to be found. Instead, the actress reveals a more mature look with short, strawberry blonde hair, that is curled in a 1950's style, and modest dress.

"Killing Kennedy" is set to debut in November on the National Geographic channel.

"We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists whom have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material," Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels, said in a statement. "With 'Killing Kennedy,' timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience."
