Michelle Williams Reveals Struggle With Depression, Hints at Super Bowl Reunion With Beyonce

Michelle Williams, one of the founding members of Destiny's Child, has revealed that she battled depression since she was approximately 15 or 16. She now hopes to use her story to help others get the help they need.

"I've dealt with depression. I had to choose to get out of bed and do whatever I needed to do to be happy," Williams told the Associated Press. Her first bout of depression came when she was in her teens and Williams managed to battle the illness without any treatment.

"We're taught, 'just go to church and pray about it. The Lord is going to heal you.' Well, in the meantime, I believe God- gifted people, physicians, doctors, and therapists – that's your healing. Take advantage of it. Go see a professional so that they can assess you. It's OK if you're going through something. Depression is not OK, but it is OK to go get help," Williams said.

She is a strong Christian who has released hits with Christian artists such as Mary Mary and spoken about her faith.

"Some people will do gospel when their career fails, but I chose to do it at the height of the popularity of Destiny's Child. And I didn't want to do it because it was a fad. I wanted to do it because it's in me. It's in my heart," Williams told Billboard magazine.

Her newest album will include Christian themes and stories of her life, including battling depression and growing up being bullied at school.

"Sometimes you're going to wake up on the wrong side of the bed or some situation might have you down in the dumps, but you have to choose to be happy. I'm choosing life. And I'm hoping this album makes people want to choose life," Williams told the Associated Press.

She may actually reunite with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland at the Super Bowl halftime show.

"Who knows? We make sure not to go too long without doing something," she hinted.
