Micromax Canvas 5 Launched in India, Specs Include 5.2-Inch Display, 3 GB of RAM

Micromax has brought to India their latest smartphone called the Canvas 5 and it's nothing short of impressive as it is considered to be a superior device with a budget price. With a price tag of only Rs 11,999, the Canvas 5 is cheaper by Rs. 6000 compared to its predecessor. Interested consumers can choose from the two available colors which are Space Grey and Tan Brown.

According to NDTV Gadgets, the Canvas 5 is a definite upgraded version of the Canvas 4 which was released in 2013. The specifications it carries is not that ground-breaking though compared to today's standards but it is certain to entice media users beginning with its metallic frames on sides and leather black cover.

It sports a 5.2-inch FHD IPS display with a 1080x1920 pixel resolution. It's also equipped with a 2.5D curved touch panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Under its hood is an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. What makes this budget phone unique is that this is Micromax's first product with 3 GB of RAM, as detailed by Business Standard. It is coupled with an internal memory of 16 GB that is expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card.

The operating system it runs out of the box is Android 5.1 Lollipop but the company is promising to bring the updated version, the 6.0 Marshmallow. For photo purposes, the handset is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Sources say that the autofocus feature makes the camera work faster than normal while the selfie snapper takes wider photos.

The Canvas 5 also supports dual-SIM and is brought to life with a 2900 mAh battery. Micromax claims that it will last up to 10 hours of normal use. To allow the smartphone to be easily accessible to consumers, IBN Live reported that Micromax partnered with Bajaj Finance to run a 12 month EMI scheme which will let consumers pay four advance EMIs at the time of purchase.
