Micromax Launches $79 Canvas Spark With Android Lollipop
Indian Electronics Manufacturer, Micromax Mobile just launched its latest smartphone, the Canvas Spark with Android Lollipop for just $79.
Indian smartphone company, Micromax Mobile, which started the trend for more useable budget Android handsets, has just released its latest model running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Canvas Spark priced at Rs. 4,999 ($79).
Micromax released the Canvas Spark (Q380) at a Gurgaon, India event Wednesday, after a brief gap following its previous model, the Canvas Selfie. Powered by a 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek MT6582M processor, it has 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage expandable up to 32 GB.
The new handset weighs 134 grams and is 8.5mm thick. It has a 4.7-inch IPS QHD screen with a 720p display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a Largan lens, a 2MP front camera, a dual sim card slot, and one microSD card slot.
The Canvas Spark is powered by a 2000mAh battery and has a battery saver mode which effectively limits the use of background data when the phone needs charging. It is 3G-enabled, and includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options. It also includes an FM radio and an audio jack and supports 21 languages with a built-in Reverie pack.
The handset itself has a plastic rear cover in a matte finish, and comes in white-gold and silver-grey variants.
Micromax has inked a deal with Vodafone for a bundled data plan made available during the day of the launch, offering free 500MB of 3G data a month for up to two months.
One of the very few budget smartphones, apart from Moto E and Intex Aqua L, that comes with the latest Android built, the handset is exclusively available on Snapdeal, India's largest online shopping website.
