Microsoft Lumia 550 Coming To India, Specs Include 4.7-Inch Display, Snapdragon 210, 1 GB of RAM

Those who have been wanting to get a budget-friendly Windows 10 Mobile smartphone in India will finally be able to get one as Microsoft announced that they will be releasing their cheapest Lumia phone yet in the country. According to The Quint, the Redmond, Washington-based tech company is set to sell their Lumia 550 in India this week.

After being made available in the U.S. and few selected European markets, the Lumia 550 will come to India just before Christmas time. Those who are interested in purchasing one can get it starting Dec. 23 with a price tag of Rs 9,399 only.

Tech 2 noted that it will come in two color variants which are glossy white and matte black.

As for its hardware details, the same source reported that the budget-friendly smartphone will come with entry-level specifications. It will be featuring a 4.7-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, one will find a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset clocked at 1.1GHz. It is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to a maximum of 200 GB.

It runs with Microsoft Windows 10 operating system but it will not support the Windows 10 Continuum feature as it does not have the required hardware specifics. Tech One 3 detailed that it is integrated with Cortana and will come with pre-installed apps like Skype, Facebook and Twitter. Aside from that, the device will also come with the Microsoft Edge browser, the new Outlook mail, OneDrive and many more.

As for its camera specs, Phone Radar noted that the Lumia 550 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel front camera with f/2.8 aperture. Basic connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS are available. It also comes with MicroUSB 2.0 and supports 4G LTE, making the device the cheapest 4G smartphone available. Giving it power is a 2,100mAh battery which is claimed to provide 17 hours of talk time.
