Microsoft News: Tech Giant Lets Go of Windows 10 Mobile
Recent reports have revealed that Microsoft has admitted that there is no future for their Windows 10 Mobile and that it will take a backseat in the tech giant's future plans.
The competition in the smartphone market has reached new heights since tech giants, such as Apple and Samsung, unveiled groundbreaking technology in their mobile devices. Competitors are hard-pressed to keep up, and unfortunately, not every brand makes it to the chart.
The news was disseminated over social media, as Microsoft's corporate vice president Joe Belfiore took to Twitter to address the clamor of the fans to have more application support for their respective Windows 10 Mobile. Unfortunately, it seems that adding more app support for the ecosystem of the smartphone has become impossible, as companies have hesitated in investing on the Windows 10 Mobile.
Belfiore said that the tech giant did their best to deliver what was being demanded of them, even going as far as writing applications for the developers.
Furthermore, CNET reports that Microsoft will no longer roll out new features and hardware for the Windows 10 Mobile. Users of the ill-fated smartphone were assured that they will still give regular bug fixes and security updates, but other than that, Microsoft will have its focus elsewhere. Although the Windows 10 Mobile is the latest of its lineup since it was introduced in 2000, it seems that the introduction of Apple's iOS and Google's Android has had a bigger impact on the smartphone than expected.
More developers shifted their attention to the newcomers in the market, and as such, the ecosystem and viability of app support on the Windows 10 Mobile suffered. Fans were disappointed in the news, especially since the smartphone was the first to advocate for a nearly bezel-less design, which seems to be the current trend in the market. Regardless, fans are hoping to see Microsoft develop a smartphone that can fulfill its ambitions, even in the face of Apple and Google.
