Microsoft Surface Book vs. Porsche Design Book One: The Surface Line Has a Tough Competitor
The competitive arena of laptops and technology is getting even more cutthroat than ever, and it is about to get even stiffer with new names joining in the playing field. From the looks of it, the Microsoft Surface Book is facing a tough and potentially formidable opponent with the Porsche Design Book One.
In a comparison made by Auto World News, both the Book One and the Surface Book have two things in common. First, both have the similar two-in-one design, which allows the screen to be detached from a physical keyboard and then used as a tablet. Another is the operating system (OS), as the two competing brands use the latest Windows 10 Pro. The similarities end there, and things begin heating up.
When it comes to processors, the Book One begins to take a strong lead. The Book One boasts a seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake Core i7-7500U processor, making it faster than the Surface Book which has the earlier generation Intel Skylake central processing unit (CPU) with a Core i7-6600U processor. With both priced at $2,495, this makes the Book One the clear choice.
As for the physical appearance, the Surface Book is thicker than the Book One, but not necessarily heavier. International Business Times points out that the former has the Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge, a rather complicated mechanism that is put to shame by the Book One's VarioHinge, allowing it to rotate by 360 degrees with ease.
From these comparisons, one would think that the Porsche Design Book One is the clear winner, but it is prudent not to rush to conclusions. With the Book One not out in the market yet, it remains to be seen if it lives up to the hype.
Porsche has been known to create luxury cars built for speed and style. Now that they have decided to plunge into the fray with the Porsche Design Book One, it remains to be seen if the brand can bring the speed onto the world of technology.
