Microsoft Surface Phone News and Updates: Upcoming Lineup to Come with Three Variants? Other Details and Possible Release Date Revealed [RUMORS]
One of the most anticipated phones is Microsoft's new Surface Phone lineup. With a seemingly close release date, what features are to be expected with this premium device offering?
Microsoft Surface Phone
Various rumors point out the key features of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Phone. The device lineup first garnered attention when news broke out that it will be replacing the tech company's Lumia smartphone range. Microsoft also still has not confirmed the existence of the device yet, other than a possible accidental post on social media.
Three Variants
Although this rumor has been running in the mill for quite some time now, it is only fairly recent that it got validated. The Microsoft Surface Phone is said to be coming in three variants. These variations, expectedly, will be met with different price points and device specifications.
As of now, the only detail available is that there will be a variant coming with 5.5 inches of display and another one with 6 inches. There is no word as of yet on whether there would be another display size.
Inside the device, there will be a variant sporting 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The next tier will then tout 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. The most premium model will then come with an immense 8GB of RAM coupled with 512GB of internal storage.
Microsoft Pen and Keyboard
As previously reported, the Microsoft Surface Phone will emphasize productivity as its strongest suit. Following this vision, the tech giant made sure that people using the smartphone would be equipped with everything they need to turn the device into a fully pledged workstation.
With this in mind, the Microsoft Surface Phone will then natively integrate with a pen and a keyboard. It is no secret that Microsoft's Surface line always had hybrid features, and this would continue with the Surface Phone.
The Surface Pen will be compatible with the new smartphone lineup for a more precise and accurate input method. A detachable keyboard accessory would also be available for all the long typing sessions abound for the user. However, it is still unclear if these two peripherals would be included in the retail package or sold separately.
Other Details and Release Date
Other premium technologies have been rumored to grace the device. Microsoft was reportedly working on a new form of fingerprint scanning technology. Under the hood, the Surface Phones may pack the Snapdragon 821 or 830. There are also news of the Intel Kaby Lake chipset powering the device. Of course, Windows 10 Redstone will run the smartphone, as is with every Microsoft product.
There are no set details for the release date of the Surface Phones as of yet. However, there are two rumors suggesting that the new device range will be launched either this October or in mid-2017.
