Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Release Date Nears as Surface Pro 3 Gets Huge Discount

Three years ago, Microsoft introduced what it thought to be the future of computing devices and ultraportable laptops. Indeed, the company's Surface slates have been slightly successful, except the Surface RT tablet which received criticisms from consumers and experts.

Fortunately, the higher end Surface Pro lineup has stood the tests of time, and rumors are pointing to the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 by the year's end.

However, a new report is now pushing more people to believe that the announcement for the upcoming tablet-laptop hybrid is just around the corner. In a report by Yibada, last year's model, the Surface Pro 3 has allegedly become cheaper in some retailers.

If you are thinking of a $25-50 price cut, you are mistaken. In the report, the specific Surface Pro 3 model has been made $150 cheaper.

This version is the one powered by an Intel Core i7 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and several options for storage. The recent release of Windows 10 for the Surface Pro 3 is another positive thing that could add to your reasons to buy the Pro 3, and not wait for the Pro 4.

However, if there is one thing that the alleged sale is telling us, it is that retailers and sellers are already clearing stocks of the previous model in order to give way to the upcoming device, which should be announced sometime next month.

Some rumored specs of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 include versions of a 12-inch and 14-inch screen, an upgradeable RAM to up to 16GB, a minimum of 256GB SSD storage to a maximum of 1TB, and Intel's Broadwell or Skyflake chipsets.

In the past years, Microsoft has launched its Surface Pro slates at its annual BUILD Conference in May. While there are no confirmed release dates just yet, the recent release of Windows 10 could be an indication that the announcement is already just around the corner.
