Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Surface Book April 2017 Updates, Features: Company Launches New Updates
Microsoft continues to pay extra attention to its highly successful Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book devices, as the company released yet another set of updates within the same month for the two products.
As part of the Windows 10 Creators Update that Microsoft has been rolling out to the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, the company has released updated drivers for the devices. These firmware updates are meant to fix issues with video playback and provide improved speech recognition for their artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Cortana, and are only available for devices that already have their Creators Update in place, according to Windows Central.
Owners of either one of the Surface devices can now get their copies of the new firmware upgrades via Windows Update, which have already started on Tuesday, April 25.

Microsoft has also posted about the upgrades on its Technet news blog. According to the post, the updated firmware was for the Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Audio Controller, Intel SST OED, and Realtek High-Definition Audio SST drivers for the Surface Book, as well as the Intel SST Audio Controller and Intel SST OED drivers for the Surface Pro 4.
The new drivers, according to the change log provided in the news post, provide "improves video playback on installed apps while offline," addressing previous issues with video. The SST drivers also provide voice-recognition capabilities, and this update could improve that feature as well.
As of Wednesday, April 26, Neowin noted that 24.1 percent of Surface Pro 4 users have the Windows 10 Creators Update, while 29.3 percent of Surface Book owners have the upgrade. Owners of one of these Surface devices can improve the performance of their gadgets by applying these updates from Microsoft as soon as they can.
