Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs Apple iPad Pro: Design, Specs, Price Comparison

The battle between Microsoft Surface Pro and Apple iPad Pro continues on as techies try to weigh which one is better. But one thing that interested consumers should remember is that the two are different from each other.

According to the website Laptop Mag, Apple's tablet is bigger than Microsoft's with the former sporting a 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2,732 x 2,048 pixels and the latter with a 12.3-inch screen and a resolution of 2,736 x 1,824.

In terms of design, the iPad Pro is thinner and lighter, measuring 0.27 inches thick and is made of aluminum. Meanwhile, the magnesium-made Surface Pro 4 is 0.33-inch-thick with a built-in kickstand.

As for the operating system, the Microsoft version runs with the latest Windows 10, which is a complete desktop OS along with desktop-class apps. Apple's version, on the other hand, runs with iOS 9 but it does not have the same features with its rival as it cannot run a complete desktop operating system.

The Surface Pro 4 is also more flexible, offering three chip options which include the Intel Skylake Core M3, Core i5 and Core i7, as noted in Windows Central. It has several storage options which include 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB and RAM options which can either be 16 GB, 8 GB or 4 GB. In contrast, the iPad Pro only offers the A9X chip and 4 GB of RAM. Storage options available are 128 GB and 32 GB.

As for the camera specs, Yibada detailed that the smaller tablet has a 5 MP front-facing camera and an 8 MP rear-facing camera. The larger tablet carries a 1.2 MP front camera and 8 MP rear camera. Both devices also have their own accessories. The Surface Pro 4 comes with a stylus and an optional keyboard cover that has a glass trackpad. Through this feature, users can make use of the device as a laptop. The Android-based tablet also has a USB port that can connect a mouse through Bluetooth. The iPad Pro comes with the new Pencil Stylus and Smart Keyboard.

Know Your Mobile reported that the iPad Pro 4 has a starting cost of £679. Its rival Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, has a starting price of £740.
