Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs iPad Pro Specs Rumors: Launch Date News and Features Summary

American tech companies Microsoft and Apple are reportedly preparing for their line-up of products to unveil before the year ends.

The Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft Corporation and the iPad Pro tablet from Apple, Inc. are two of the highly anticipated handheld devices due to be introduced in the latter half of 2015.

Apple has been gathering massive hype around its Sept. 9 product unveiling which is reported to feature the iPad Pro tablet they plan to launch alongside the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is also expected to make its first public appearance a month later in October.

The iPad Pro is reported to have a 12.9-inch display sporting a 2732 x 2048 resolution, and featuring Force Touch technology. Said to come with Apple's latest iOS 9 operating system running on the company's A8X/A9 CPU, the under-chassis setup will be supported by 2 GB of RAM. The upcoming Apple tablet is also likely to have NFC and include a USB Type-C port.

The iPad Pro is said to include a detachable keyboard, four sets of speakers located along the top and bottom of the tablet, with a microphone on the right-hand side, Touch ID technology, an iSight camera, and a lightning connector.

Meanwhile, based on a report from Digitimes, Microsoft earlier placed a massive order with Samsung for 256GB SSDs that are due to start shipping next month for use in the Surface Pro 4.

The Surface Pro 4 is said to come in two options of 12-inch and 14-inch models featuring display screens with a 2K resolution. Digitimes further said Microsoft's latest tablet will run on the company's recently launch Windows 10, and include Intel's Skylake processor.

The tablet will reportedly be manufactured using Pegatron Technology, with its camera module from Newmax and Largan Precision. It will be sporting a magnesium-aluminum alloy body that's expected to be as thin as its predecessor, and will have the same bezel size as the Surface Pro 3.
