Microsoft Surface Pro 5 News and Updates: Rumored Price Tag and Conflicting Release Dates
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has been one of the most anticipated devices of the year. The hybrid device has been the subject of many reports, with its rumored specs and release date.
When Will the Device Be Launched?
The excitement over the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has been at an all-time high due to rumors suggesting that it may be released sooner than expected. As the tech giant is set to hold an event later this month, there have been reports saying that the hybrid tablet will be unveiled there as well, along with other next generation devices.
If these were true, then fans of the device may finally get to see the Surface Pro 5 as early as the 26th of October. This is a highly optimistic prediction though, as some experts believe that the Surface Pro 5 may not be launched until the middle of 2017. This is due to the fact that some hardware acquisitions to be integrated in the tablet will officially be released by next year. There are also reports saying that the Microsoft event later this month will be showcasing the company's latest operating system updates, and not their upcoming hardware.
Possible Price Tag
One of the reports even put the release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to as early as spring in 2017. It has also indicated that the fifth iteration of the beloved hybrid tablet may tout a similar or even a slightly higher price tag in comparison to its predecessor. If the tech company actually pulls off this pricing bracket, then the Surface Pro 5 would definitely be a steal given its advanced specs and features.
The report has predicted that the Surface Pro 5 will start at $899. Similarly, this is the current price tag of the lowest model of the Surface Pro 4. The configuration comes with an Intel Core m3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. If compared with the rumored specs of the Surface Pro 5, then the upcoming device will definitely be leaps ahead of its predecessor.
Rumored Specs
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is rumored to be equipped with the next generation Intel Kaby Lake processor. This is the main reason behind the delay reports as the chipsets are bound to be released next year. This will then be paired with Microsoft's very own Windows 10 Redstone operating system. The software and hardware optimization will ensure a smooth overall performance for the users.
There would be at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for the base model. A USB Type-C port would also be available, along with a headphone jack. Per usual, it will natively support the Surface Pen and a peripheral keyboard.
