Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date, Specs News: New Info Reveals Ongoing Production; Leaked Image from Microsoft Not the Upcoming Laplet
New details about the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Pro 5 have found their way online. The information comes courtesy of the Redmond tech giant itself.
A Microsoft engineer who worked on the company since June 2016 made mention of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 on his profile, which suggests that the company has been working on the hybrid device.
Other than the confirmation of the work that Microsoft has been doing on the next Surface Pro, there is nothing else to take away from the profile.
However, just recently, media outlets feasted on a page from the official Microsoft news site that featured an image with Surface Pro 5 included in the file name.
The laplet shown on the image looked exactly like the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which led Wccftech to believe that the file name was just an error.
The site provided a screenshot of the image that showed the Surface Pro 5 in the file name. Visiting the same page now on Microsoft's website, one will notice it has been changed to Surface Pro 4.
The Redmond-based software giant appears to have made an error on the file name and nothing else. Clearly, Microsoft has caught wind of the talks about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 leak.
The company is yet to make the device official, but with the success of the product line, it is expected the company is not going to abandon it anytime soon.
With Microsoft silent, the rumor mills stepped in to provide possible details about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. It is being said it will come with an ultra high-definition (UHD) display and USB Type-C support. One of the major upgrades to expect in the new two-in-one device is the purported magnetic charging stylus.
As for the release date, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to turn up early 2017 so fans might hear official details about it in the coming weeks.
