Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to be Revealed in May: Laplet Certified in China

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could be announced in the coming weeks, if the latest leak about the highly anticipated tablet laptop hybrid is anything to go by.

The new Surface Pro was recently certified by China Compulsory Certificate, an entity that makes sure the products imported, sold or used in the Chinese market are safe.

According to MS Power User, this indicates that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 should be revealed sooner rather than later. It even looks like it is ready to hit the market.

No details about the specifications and the features of the laplet have been revealed, but fans are likely not going to wait long before they learn of all that.

With the certification, the Microsoft Pro 5's unveiling is close. The abovementioned publication believes that the big reveal would take place later this month.

However, with a Microsoft event happening this May — that is the Microsoft Build Developer Conference — it is now expected that the new entry to the beloved Surface Pro line will be uncovered there.

With regard to what the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has to offer, the latest reports suggest that it will have the Intel Kaby Lake processor under its hood, an upgrade from the previous generation's Sky Lake chip.

There are reportedly no expected changes in the design department, but the upgrade will allegedly come in the form of an improved display.

Trusted Microsoft insider and technology journalist Paul Thurrott said on Twitter that there is really "nothing dramatic" to expect in the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

In fact, he claims that the next-gen laplet will "not change the Surface Connect power connector." This means that there will be no USB-C for the device.

Forbes adds that Microsoft is also putting extra attention on providing software improvements on the Surface Pro 5. Its focus on this department will shine through with the Windows 10 and the software the device will come equipped with.
