Microsoft Surface Pro Release Date Rumors: Analyst Speculates The End Of The Hybrid Laptop Product

The end may be near for Microsoft's detachable laptop-tablet device called Surface Pro, some speculations claimed.

Canalys CEO Steve Brazier revealed during the tech analyst firm's Channels Forum in Venice, Italy that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella might put a stop into the creation of new Surface Pro product line.

According to the analyst, Nadella has the tendency to keep his focus on creating software or cloud products since it makes more money instead of coming up with a new hardware that has a mediocre performance in the market.

"The Surface performance is choppy; there are good quarters and bad quarters, overall they are not making money. It doesn't make sense for them to be in this business," the analyst stated. "When the capital expenditure challenge that Satya Nadella has taken Microsoft down becomes visible to Wall Street, everyone will ask him 'Why have you gone to a low margin business?'"

Brazier also said that the Surface Pro products could be the first items that will be removed by the company if the speculations about the demise of the product turn out to be true.

However, the tech firmed seemed to have debunked the speculations when it reportedly revealed during its recent Ignite 2017 event that they will be releasing the LTE version of Microsoft Surface Pro on Dec. 1.

Neowin reported that a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the reports that the LTE edition of the hybrid laplet device will be unveiled before the end of the year.

The cellular variant of the device was first announced during an event in Shanghai back in May, but the release details had been kept under wraps. The device was previously speculated to be launched at the company's Future Decoded event in London, where Surface division head Panos Panay is reportedly scheduled to host the keynote next month.
