Microsoft's 'Lumia Phone X' or Surface Phone May Have Been Let Out in a Continuum Video Description

Microsoft China may have accidentally confirmed the existence of an upcoming device that it calls "Lumia Phone X." The "leak" has set the grapevine speculating that this device could be no other than the rumored Surface Phone.

On Wednesday, the Chinese arm of the technology company uploaded a video (below) to promote Continuum, a signature feature in its Windows 10 operating system. The footage shows how the feature works, but in the video's description lies the interesting part.

Obviously, the description is in Chinese, but a translation by GadgetzArena.com revealed it to have listed a certain "Lumia Phone X," a device that hasn't been heard of up until now. Here's the translation of the sentence where the device's name appears:

"Note: This feature requires a compatible mobile device is intended for use, for example Lumia 950 / XL, Lumia Phone X and Acer Jade Primo."

After realizing the mishap, Microsoft immediately revised the video's description, but by the time it did, it was too late to have gone unnoticed. Chinese social media users were quick to take screenshots of the image description, which are now making the rounds online.

A Lumia Phone X has not been mentioned in rumors before, but GadgetzArena reports Chinese sites have already linked the name to the Surface Phone. Code-named "Panos Phone," the Surface Phone is rumored to have an Intel Core M or Intel Atom processor and a 4 GB RAM. Speculations also suggest it will be unveiled in September 2016.

Tech Times has also come with a list of possible upcoming Microsoft phones that fit what is known about the Lumia Phone X. As mentioned, Continuum is a Windows 10 feature, which means a Windows mobile device needs to be equipped with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, 808, or 810 chipsets to run it. Based on this, the publication suggests the Lumia Phone X could also possibly be the rumored Lumia 650, Lumia 750, or Lumia 850.

Needless to say, nothing's certain about the Lumia Phone X, and Microsoft has not confirmed anything as of this point.
