'Mighty No. 9' launch date still vague, dev team apologizes for delay
If there's one thing gamers hate, it's waiting for a game to arrive in store shelves. But sometimes, the developers of games have no control over inevitable circumstances that puts a delay to their game, just like the fate of the action-platform video game "Mighty No. 9," which is developed by Comcept and published by Deep Silver.
According to PCMag Asia, fans were dismayed after learning that Comcept had sneakily announced a second launch delay of the crowdfunded Mega Man successor. It was supposed to be released in spring 2015, then postponed to mid-September. And now, September is almost over but still no sign of the game. It looks like the game won't be hitting consoles any time soon.
The dev team behind the game initially posted the news of the delay through an unrelated blurb in a new post on its website. They then followed it up with a proper update post found on the project's Kickstarter page. According to them, the game has already been finished and is ready to go. But at the last minute, they encountered some unexpected complications in terms of dispensing the demo exclusively to all their backers through Steam. Polygon detailed that Comcept made a decision to "switch distribution methods," which is something that would really take time in order to completely ready the build for release. Comcept went on to explain that they are "retooling the demo build" to dispense via the Humble Bundle store.
As a result, they had to put on hold the release of the game and continue to work along with their partners in getting the demo ready and be available to their backers as soon as possible. Comcept said, "We sincerely apologize for this delay, but we hope you'll like the resulting changes!"
The poor communication of Comcept made a number of fans and backers express their frustration over the matter. But not everyone have lost their faith in the dev team. Some have still sent out their words of support and will wait for "Mighty No. 9."
