Miley Cyrus lands Judge's Seat for Season 11 on "The Voice U.S." after being Advisor last season
To reach a wider, newer demographic, "The Voice U.S." brings in Miley Cyrus as one of the new judges for the upcoming eleventh season. The pop star is expected to bring an "edge" to the show as an occupant of the iconic revolving red chairs.
A source tells HollywoodLife.com, "Now that The Voice is the only game in town they needed to ruffle up things so people will still be talking about the show. They wanted a different edge and fan base and that is exactly what Miley will bring."
The 23-year-old will be replacing Gwen Stefani and will be working with the other two veteran judges, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Another new judge---in place of Pharrell Williams who is also leaving---Alicia Keys, will also join the next season, making for an interesting mix of judges. She had been an advisor on the show in its seventh season.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer confirms on Instagram, "It's true! I am going to be the newest coach on Season 11 of The Voice@nbcthevoice #thevoice … watch me mentor and then season 11 s__t is gonna go offffff! I can't wait!"
When Keys was confirmed, Cyrus also tweeted to offer the 35-year-old "Girl on Fire" star.
It looks like NBC's "The Voice U.S." is really aiming for a fresh and engaging season 11. Although there will be two new judges, the plan is for the other judges to return eventually in future seasons.
"Everyone will be back eventually, including Gwen. They just have to adapt to make things interesting every season," says the HollywoodLife insider.
And the keyword seems to "interesting." It is apparently with good reason. This recent shake-up may be an effort on the part of the network to step in at the right moment and bring their numbers up as they slowly slip down the Nielsen charts. The show premiered Feb. 29 to a Nielsen score of 3.4 down to a 2.5 on the March 22 episode. Despite remaining among the top-rated on NBC for a non-football program in the 18-49 bracket, these numbers are somewhat on the low end. So it would seem Cyrus and Keys are seen to bring in the numbers.
As the President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment, Paul Telegdy, puts it, "The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable. We're thrilled that they'll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season."
