'Mindy Project' Canceled; Star Adam Pally Cited for Marijuana, Cocaine Possession

The series creator herself has confirmed it, Hulu has canceled "The Mindy Project," and season 6 will be the last that viewers will see of Mindy Kaling as Mindy Lahiri in the show that also shares the lead actress' name. On the same day as Kaling's announcement, "The Mindy Project" star Adam Pally has reportedly been arrested for drug possession in New York City.

Hulu has decided that "The Mindy Project" is finished after season 6, even as the show was airing its season 5 finale last Tuesday, March 28. While the series has been given an extended run to season 6 to wrap things up, the show will be coming to an end soon enough. Viewers can begin to say goodbye to Dr. Lahiri and her colleagues.

The series creator and lead star of the romantic comedy series has reached out to her fans on Twitter to make sure they know that although her show will not be around for much longer, what remains of it will be "lit AF."

For the second time since Fox network has pulled the plug on the show over disappointing ratings, "The Mindy Project" is faced with cancellation once again, according to Cinema Blend. Whether the series will once again try to find a network willing to give it another run remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Adam Pally, who plays Dr. Peter Prentice on the recently canceled show, has been reportedly cited for misdemeanor drug possession, according to TMZ. The 35-year-old "The Mindy Project" star is said to have been apprehended for smoking weed from an E-cigarette, plus a small bag of cocaine upon search. The actor is facing two misdemeanor charges and is now required to appear before a judge within 30 days, according to sources.
