'Minecraft Story Mode' to be released by the end of year, demo scenes revealed
Created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson, the video game "Minecraft" is well-loved by many and an award from the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Videogame can prove that. Now, developers Mojang and Telltale Games are in the works of continuing the success of the game by releasing "Minecraft: Story Mode" by the end of the year.
The game's details were divulged at PAX Prime 2015 wherein fans were allowed to play the demo of episode one out of the five-part series. They were able to have a taste of the fun that would be coming soon as no specific date of release has been announced yet. According to an article by Touch Arcade, the game seemed "promising" and "thrilling" especially since they used an original storyline, one that is narrative-driven.
In the game, players can play as the protagonist Jesse who is going to be voiced by comedian and "The Kings of Queens" star Patton Oswalt. They will also be able to pick the look and feel of their protagonist which is a first for Telltale, according to Geek. They can pick a girl avatar which is reported to be voiced by actress Catherine Taber. The default outfit of the selectable characters is a pair of overalls so the only way to tell if the character's a boy or a girl would be through the character's haircut.
The first scene of the demo kicked off with Jesse's pet pig Reuben running away into the woods. The player needs to search for him, carefully pay attention to the objects that he can interact with and follow movement instructions that flash on the screen. Missing one can lead to the avatar's death. Once Reuben is found, a cluster of zombies will appear out of nowhere.
The player will need to fight off the zombies with a sword which can be customized once Jesse's friend, Petra, helps him design a new sword. Scene two will involve a giant alien-like creature which tries to abduct Petra and Jesse will need to save her. Episode two will follow after this level so fans will have to wait for the full game to know what happens next..
"Minecraft: Story Mode" is set to come out on Windows, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, iOS, and Android.
