Minecraft Xbox 360 Gets New Skins, Achievement, Music and Female Character
Minecraft for Xbox 360 will be releasing a new update next week giving players access to new achievements, music, new skins, and a new female character.
Microsoft and Swedish developer, Mojang have announced that "Minecraft" for Xbox 360 consoles will be getting a new update that includes 30 achievements, a new group of tunes, and an extra default skin for a female named Alex.
The world-building game's new achievements will allow players to increase their highest possibile Gamerscore to up to 1000 points, and the music by C418 will be for block placer and breaker in the Xbox 360 version.
The original Minecraft character, Steve, was initially intended to be genderless, representative of a human being, original developer, Markus Persson wrote on his personal blog in 2012.
The new skin, Alex, an alternative to protagonist, Steve, went live yesterday, featuring thinner arms and red hair in a pony tail, and became available free for players across all platforms.
Addressing the gender divide in the independent sandbox video game, Alex is Mojang's female representative meant to address the diversity of its wide playerbase, the developer said in its company blog.
While Alex isn't new to Minecraft – she is available on the desktop version – this is the first time she has been launched on game consoles.
Apart from Alex, players will have other paid skins to choose from, like the Simpsons pack that's available for $3 on Microsoft platforms, Groundskeeper Willie, Principal Seymour Skinner, and soul-sucker, Dewey Largo, among many others.
In July this year, Mojang will preside over its Minecon in London where it is expected to release more announcements on the game's direction, particularly after Microsoft bought it for $2.5 billion in September 2014.
