Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Team Interested in Jason Terry and Marcus Thornton

As training camp approaches, the Minnesota Timberwolves still have a few roster spots available. The team had already worked out Thomas Robinson, Perry Jones, Trey Burke, Isaiah Canaan, Anthony Morrow and Alan Anderson earlier this month, and this week, they will reportedly take a closer look at two veteran shooting guards.

According to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN, the Timberwolves are going to bring in Jason Terry and Marcus Thornton for a look. The Racine Journal Times' Gery Woelfel has also reported that Terry has been in Minnesota since Sunday.

"The Timberwolves, one of the NBA's up-and-coming teams, have expressed more than a passing interest in Terry and that's indicative of them bringing the veteran guard to Minneapolis for a workout and meeting with team officials, including Tom Thibodeau, the Timberwolves president of basketball operations and head coach. Sources said Terry arrived in Minneapolis on Sunday and is expected to be there for two days," Woelfel said.

Terry will turn 40 this Friday, but he's still an excellent three-point shooter and the Timberwolves need someone like him to help spread the floor. His experience is invaluable as well. The 18-year veteran averaged 4.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 74 games last season. He shot 43.2 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from the three-point range.

Thornton doesn't really shoot as well as Terry, but he's younger and he can contribute off the bench. In 33 games with the Washington Wizards last season, Thornton averaged 6.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists, while shooting 40 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have re-signed Shabazz Muhammad to a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum of $1.6 million. According to ESPN, Muhammad turned down better offers to return to Minnesota, and he will give the team another scorer off the bench.
