'Minority Report' spoilers: Series will focus on the Precogs; series is a sequel to the film
The sci-fi movie "Minority Report", which starred actor Tom Cruise and was directed by Steven Spielberg, is hitting the small screens with the same name. The upcoming series will take place 15 years after the events in the movie and it will revolve around a Precog named Dash (Stark Sands), who has the unique ability to predict crimes before they happen.
The new series will be set in Washington D.C where life is significantly different after the pre-crime unit was dismantled. The new show is essentially a sequel to the film, but "warmer and more inviting" in tone.
The upcoming series will star actress Megan Good as detective Lara Vega, a cop who works alongside Dash in order to stop crimes before it happens and is willing to break the rules a little bit; Wilmer Valderama as Lieutenant Will Blake, a no nonsense by the book cop who is Vega's partner in the precinct; Nick Zano as Dash's twin brother Arthur; and Laura Regan as Agatha, their sister who are both Precogs like Dash.
Actor Andrew J. West from "The Walking Dead" will guest star in the forthcoming series. His character is described as a sophisticated and affluent alpha male playboy who is noble and has very good genes. He has a run-in with Dash and Vega when Dash hangs out with one of his favorite executives.
The brand-new series will be all about the Precogs and their so-called humanity. Dash will find it hard to understand other people, since he basically grew up without company and he will constantly adjust to the new world that he finds himself in. There will be also a lot of new, interesting, and innovative technologies on the show that were created by Spielberg himself. And there also might be a romance between Blake and Vega, as hinted by the actors.
There even might be a few familiar faces from the movie that will appear on the show like Wally (Daniel London), the caretaker of the Precogs and maybe even Tom Cruise himself. The viewers should keep their eyes peeled for some fun Easter eggs that will appear on the show like "The Simpsons" celebrating its 75th anniversary and a bus stop at Bartlet Plaza named after Josiah Bartlet from "The West Wing."
Minority Report will premiere on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
