Miss Puerto Rico News: Attitude Costs Kristhielee Caride's Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2016 Crown

What is the use of beauty if your attitude is ugly?

The organizers of Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2016 must be stern supporters of this popular quote after they stripped their reigning queen of the crown and title due to her unfriendly attitude towards the media.

People reported that the decision of Miss Puerto Rico Universe organizers was prompted by several occasions where the now-dethroned Kristhielee Caride displayed attitude when facing members of the press. Allegedly, Caride does not relish the idea of having the spotlight cast on her.

"Miss Puerto Rico is a public figure and part of your job is to be in front of the camera," said Desiree Lowry, a member of the Miss Puerto Rico Universe organization during a press conference held last week.

Apart from her less-than-friendly attitude towards the media, Caride was reportedly a no-show to several appointments scheduled by the Miss Puerto Rico Universe organization for her.

While Caride said that she did not agree to the decision of the organization, Telegraph reported that she was willing to hand down the sash and the crown with dignity. The beauty queen also made an apology on her Facebook account, especially to her fans who have supported her from the very beginning of her quest for the Miss Universe Puerto Rico crown.

She supposedly said in her now-deleted Facebook post that it was never her intention to sow bad feelings and hurts nor tarnish the image of those who helped her clinch the Miss Puerto Rico Universe crown.

"It's the valiant who remember their errors and want to move forward being the example of a real woman, holding the head high before all adversity that happens in life," Caride reportedly said on her Facebook post.
Caride bagged the crown on November 12 and was supposed to represent her country in this year's Miss Universe contest.

Puerto Rico will now be represented by Caride's first runner-up, Brenda Jimenez.

By far, Puerto Rico has five Miss Universe crowns courtesy of Marisol Malaret Contreras in 1970, Deborah Fatima Carthy-Deu in 1985, Dayanara Torres in 1993, Denisse Maria Quiñones in 2001, and Zuleyka Jerris Rivera in 2006.
