Miss Universe News: Responsibilities Still Top Priority Despite Dating Dr. Mike, Says Pia Wurtzbach
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has reiterated that the responsibilities that come with her Miss Universe crown are still her priority despite her earlier admission that she and Russian born Dr. Mikhail Varshavski, dubbed as "The Hottest Doctor Alive," are dating.
"He's been very respectful in knowing that my priority is Miss Universe and I appreciate that very much. He knows that this is my life right now," said Wurtzbach when interviewed by Philippine broadcasting giant ABS-CBN via its "TV Patrol" news program earlier this week.
"As I said before, Miss Universe is still my priority. I've been working to get this title for a very long time and I love my job, I really do, and it's going to stay that way for a long time," she said further.
The 26-year old beauty queen from the Philippines said that she wants to cherish every Miss Universe moment that she has, especially if she goes home to her home country and is made to feel the kind of impact that she has on her countrymen.
Wurtzbach is currently in her home country, Philippines, for a product endorsement deal that she keeps under wraps at the moment. In the middle of this month, she will head back home once again to crown her successor in the Miss Philippines pageant night on April 17.
Meanwhile, during the press presentation of the Miss Philippines candidates, Wurtzbach made a surprise appearance and gave some inspiring talk to the ladies vying for the crown and hoping to tread on her footsteps.
In the event, Wurtzbach recalled the first time she joined the Miss Philippines pageant back in 2013. Although she ended as first runner-up, she was not satisfied as she didn't have a title and a crown. The Miss Philippines pageant crowns several ladies for various international beauty tilts, including the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.
In 2014, she joined the pageant anew and ended only as a Top 15 finalist. Finally, in 2015, despite the criticisms hurled against her for repeatedly joining the pageant, Wurtzbach joined Miss Philippines for the third time. This time, lady luck was on her side as she bagged the prestigious Miss Universe-Philippines crown, which paved the way for her participation in the Miss Universe pageant in December last year and eventually winning the crown in the pageant's most controversial edition ever.
"Please don't forget the essence of the beauty pageant. Why do girls join pageants? And the answer would because it is a platform for you to open doors for other opportunities in your life. Don't forget that. That's not only a Q and A answer to ask you not to win the crown. Actually that's something you have to believe in, that all of these are temporary," she advised the ladies.
