Missing California Kids' Father Urges Daughter to 'Run' From James DiMaggio, Doesn't Mention Son

The father of Hannah and Ethan Anderson, both feared kidnapped by James DiMaggio, spoke to the public and urged his daughter to run away from DiMaggio and promised that she would be found. It was very noticeable that he did not mention his son, Ethan, and answered questions about that during a press conference.

"Hannah, we all love you very much. If you have a chance, you take it. You run. You'll be found," Brett Anderson, the girl's father, said during the press conference. "Jim, I can't fathom what you were thinking," he said, addressing the man police believe is responsible for the abduction. "I'm begging you to let my daughter go. You've taken everything else."

Police believe that DiMaggio may have killed the children's mother, Christina, and then set fire to the family's home. When firefighters responded to the call of a fire, they discovered Christina's body inside; she had been murdered, but police provided no further information about how she was killed.

Authorities then found the body of a dog in the home and the body of a child in the garage. While no one has said whether the body is that of 8-year-old Ethan, there may be some belief that it is his body, especially given the fact that his father did not mention him or urge him to run from DiMaggio.

"We don't know who that is that was found in the rubble," San Diego Sheriff's Department Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said. "It is a possibility that it's Ethan. It's a possibility that's another child that we haven't identified yet, or don't realize is missing yet. Right now, we just don't know, and we're praying that it wasn't Ethan."

Authorities believe that DiMaggio could be heading to Texas or Canada and have put out an Amber Alert, which they hope will help locate DiMaggio and the children, who were reported missing on Sunday.

Police ask that people be on the lookout for a blue, four-door Nissan Versa with California license plate 6WCU986. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the San Diego Sheriff's Department at (858) 974-2321.
