MLB 2016 Transactions: Players Valuation, Who Gains and Who did Not for Fantasy Baseball
August deadline is done and trades have been consummated in Fantasy MLB. Now the only thing to do is to keep assessment and valuation if teams forged a good deal or not, after all, the rule of the thumb is not to give up prospects and future stars.
Starting with the biggest winners, Dellin Betances is on top of the list for pitchers being the last ace standing for the Yankees. Betances is en route for his third consecutive 130-strikeout season, a record pretty uncommon for relievers, although his 1.27 FIP is just half a run better than any other. The fast throw also immediately climbed as a potential first for Fantasy.
Pittsburgh Pirates simply made a shuffle acquiring Tony Watson and replacing Mark Melancon. The two have identical stats, leaving the Pirates safely intact. The leftie Watson boasts 326 strikeouts in his career.
Matt Moore has a tendency for a fly-ball and many feared that taking him from pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field will prove disastrous, but like a fish thrown into the water, he ended up with the pitcher-friendlier San Francisco Giants. Moore will have a chance to return as a top overall pitching prospect if 2.39 ERA in his last nine starts will continue to propagate.
Now, here is the list of biggest losers, starting with the Indians and Andrew Miller. Miller is the only left-hander the Cleveland squad can rely on with the game on the line, so deploying him at opportune time is important although it is not enough for Miller to remain a top-five reliever in Fantasy.
Los Angeles Dodgers definitely brushed aside Yasiel Puig upon the acquisition of Josh Reddick. Although Puig floated the idea of being traded or demoted to Minor League, it did not come to fruition. He did return from a hamstring injury to go 3 for 5 with two doubles Sunday, but insufficient for Fantasy owners not to grab the opportunity to drop him.
Here comes the odd situation with Joey Gallo, being a long wait for the Texas Rangers. The squad even moved Jurickson Profar to free up some space and move him in, then the Rangers suddenly has Carlos Beltran from the Yankees. The indicators show that Gallo's days in the majors are counted and he is looking for the next opportunity to get in.
