'Moana' movie spoilers: Meet Disney's first Polynesian princess

Disney will introduce a new princess in the upcoming animated film "Moana." This is the first time that Disney will have a Polynesian princess and the second princess from the South Pacific after Pocahontas. The film will be directed by Ron Clements and John Musker whose films include "The Little Mermaid" and "The Princess and the Frog."

The movie will center on Princess Moana Waialiki who travels across the vast South Pacific Ocean in search of a mythical island in the vast region of Oceania. On her journey, she will meet a demigod named Maui who will join her on her travels. She also has a pair of trusty sidekicks, Pua the pig and Hei Hei the rainbow-colored rooster.

Moana is a spunky princess who happens to be a born navigator with a huge sense of adventure. She is a dreamer who is so in tune with nature. She is an animal lover who has many animal friends and she might have been the one who found Hawaii.

Dywane "The Rock" Johnson will lend his voice to the character of Maui the demigod, but there is no word on who will be voicing the other characters as auditions are still underway. Other characters in the movie are Tui, the father of Moana, and a new Disney villain that looks like a witch made out lava with claws.

The film will feature the hit song "Circle of Life" during the birth of Moana from the movie "The Lion King." It has been reported that Johnson will be singing in the film. The film has a pretty impressive music team that includes a South Pacific musician named Opetaia Foa'i from the group Te Vaka, Mark Mancina the composer behind the songs of The Lion King and Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote the music for Broadway's "Hamilton."

Moana is set to premiere on Nov. 23, 2016.
