'Modern Family' Season 6 Premiere Date, Cast News: 3 Guest Stars to Be Featured in New Season

"Modern Family" is set to premiere its sixth season next week, and a slew of guest stars have been confirmed to appear in the show's upcoming season.

Steve Zahn ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid") has been tapped to play the role of Ronnie, described to be the head of the annoying family that moves in next door to the Dunphys. According to Entertainment Weekly, the part is described as a recurring guest-star role.

Andrea Anders ("Better Off Ted") has been cast as Kim, who is Ronnie's wife. Expect this husband and wife team to shake up the neighborhood and they probably will have some sort of rivalry going on with the Dunphys.

Meanwhile, Tony and Emmy award winner Tyne Daly will be playing Lily's stern, no-nonsense teacher, Mrs. Plank.

All three characters will be introduced on the fourth episode of season 6, titled "Won't You Be My Neighbor." The episode will air on Oct. 8.

So what's in store for the whole family this season?

Newlyweds Cam and Mitch will be returning from their honeymoon, and they will find that it will be hard to switch back to their normal lives after all the excitement of their wedding and vacation.

Meanwhile, the Dunphy's happy summer will take a turn as Alex returns from a humanitarian trip, and her experience will cause the family to undergo a change in moods and attitudes.

Season six will also see Gloria, who is tired of reminding Jay to care for his appearance again and again, finding that the only way to inspire him to improve the way he looks is for her to stop maintaining her own looks. Will we be seeing a frumpy Gloria this season?

"Modern Family" season 6 will premiere on Sept. 24 on ABC.
