Monday Night Football takes place tonight with the San Francisco 49ers taking on the Arizona Cardinals. The two teams will be fighting it out for first place in the NFC West as the NFL season heads into November. The game is scheduled to start at 8.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream via the link below.
The 49ers currently sit at the top of the NFC West division with a record of 5-2. Meanwhile, the Cardinals come into this Week 8 fixture with a 4-3 record, and currently lie in second position.
This result could depend upon whether the Cardinals will be able to contain the 49ers rush offense. San Francisco boast one of the best rush offenses in the NFL this season, marking up an impressive 176.6 rush yards per game on average. In comparison the Cardinals rush is recording a lowly 89.3 yards per game - at about half the level of the 49ers.
Frank Gore has been the spearhead for those yards for the 49ers, racking up a total of 601 yards from 103 carries and scoring four touchdowns. That's an average of 5.8 yards per carry.
Gore has been supported admirably by Kendall Hunter who has registered 258 yards from 50 carries, at an average of 5.2 yards per carry, scoring one touchdown in the process.
The Cardinals have been allowing an average of 120.9 yards on the rush per game, and they could struggle tonight to maintain the 49ers' runners.
Last season the Cardinals were able to gain a win against San Francisco at home, so anything is possible.
John Skelton put on a good performance against the Minnesota Vikings recently, posting a 69.4 percent completion rate, with 262 yards.
However, the 49ers are ranking number 1 in pass defense and have allowed just 173 pass yards per game so far.
