Monica Lewinsky Tell-All Fetches $12 Million, Features Love Letters to President Clinton
Monica Lewinsky's forthcoming tell-all is reportedly worth $12 million and will feature intimate details of her relationship with former president Bill Clinton. Lewinsky is also planning to share "secret" love letters written to Clinton, though the timing of the book is somewhat dubious.
According to friends, Lewinsky is seeking "revenge" for the way she was treated after her relationship with Clinton was made public. She quickly became the subject of much scorn, given Clinton's popularity at the time, and sought refuge abroad.
In her new memoir, though, Lewinsky will share the letters she once wrote to Clinton, whom she cared for deeply. "In them, she opened her heart about her love for Bill and how much happier she could make him," a source told the National Enquirer. "Some of what she wrote was so raw that she never sent them."
Why would Lewinsky publish the details of her life now? "No one will hire her and she can't get a job because of Clinton," a friend told the New York Post. "She needs to make money somehow."
After being betrayed by friend Linda Tripp, the relationship between Lewinsky and Clinton became front-page news. She was often the source of ridicule, and the impeachment proceedings against Clinton did nothing to help her public image.
Clinton, however, has been redeemed in the public and political spheres, especially after his crowd-raising speech at the Democratic National Convention. His popularity is at an all-time high, which makes this the perfect set-up for Lewinsky to try and embarrass Clinton.
"Monica has tried to move forward, but the nightmare of her affair with bill still haunts her. She's facing 40 without a man in her life, and seething about the way her reputation was destroyed as the whole world watched," her friend told the Enquirer.
