'Mortal Kombat X' Adds 'Friday The 13th' Character to its Roster of Fighters

"Mortal Kombat X" is introducing a new horror movie character from "Friday the 13th" in its roster of playable characters.

NetherRealm Studios' fighting video game, "Mortal Kombat X" is bringing in a new playable character into its ranks. Jason Voorhees, the masked and machete-wielding murderer from "Friday the 13th" will be joining the game as one of the characters players can use to attack challengers.

NetherRealm has been posting teasers on their social media accounts hinting at a legend of a killer, buried but alive, who continues to return to the death-cursed Crystal Lake. They also released a dark and chilling video reveal of Jason Voorhees entry into the game as part of a new Kombat Pack.

The mass murderer will be made available during an April 14 Xbox One, PlayStaton 4 and PC launch in April, with a summer release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to Cinemablend, Jason Voohees' strength and skill with his blade makes him best suited to a fighting game like "Mortal Kombat."

Warner Bros. Interactive revealed Jason may be joined by an as yet unannounced special guest. Other new players in the new Kombat Pack include swordsman Kenchi, Outer World Invetigation Agency's Sonya Blade, and martial artist Johnny Cage.

The Kombat Pack's content will include a Samurai Pack with Jingu Kitana, Samurai Shinnok and Ronin Kenshi character skins. Players who already own a Kombat Pack will be given early access to the DLC before it is released for sale separately.

The "Kombat Pack" with its "Klassic Kombatants" and Jason Voorhees will be retailing for $29.99 in North America and £24.99 in the U.K.

Jason Voorhees is the second horror movie character to make a "Mortal Kombat" appearance. In the 2011 "Mortal Kombat 9," "A Nightmare on Elm Street's" long-clawed Freddy Kreuger was a special guest star in the game.
