'Mortal Kombat X' announces upcoming DLC, four new characters to be added

The creators of "Mortal Kombat X" are not done spoiling their fans yet and the latest treat for all is the new in-game features that are to come for gamers to enjoy. As announced in the official website, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed that NetherRealm Studios is developing new downloadable content (DLC) for "Mortal Kombat X."

The hype about it initially started when NetherRealm studio head Ed Boon posted a few days ago a series of teasers in his personal Twitter account, reports Design & Trend. He first gave a hint on the return of the classic Mortal Kombat arena called The Pit, followed by a silhouette photo of four new characters that will be part of the upcoming DLC pack.

A few days after, Warner Bros. made the exciting announcement online. The publisher revealed that the coming content will indeed contain four new playable characters, skins and a new environment, making fans all the more excited to get their hands on it. But just like any other DLC, a waiting period is required. Warner Bros. hinted that the new DLC pack will arrive in the first half of 2016. A pretty long wait to some but then again, the entertainment company probably wants to gap DLC out considering the next batch of fighters may not be part of the original Season Pass.

But even though the DLC is still months away and details of the new characters to be added are still kept under wraps, there are already several speculations and guesses as to who the characters are based on the clue that Boon posted. Screen Rant shared some of their best guesses.

According to the site, the left-most looks like Baraka, a minor character in the game's Story Mode. But they also guess that it could be Noob Saibot, Rain or one of the other ninjas. Their next guess is a Marvel character, the Joker, because of the hair. But then again it could be Sindel or Elvira. The third figure could be Cyrax, Smoke or Sektor, all of which are cyborg characters, while the fourth one is guessed to be Bo' Rai Cho.

Only Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios know whether the site's guesses are correct or not. Until the reveal day, fans will have to wait and see.
