'Mortal Kombat X' DLC: New Characters Launching 2016, Tweets Game's Co-Creator
The start of the new year is a good one for "Mortal Kombat X" fans and followers. The game's co-creator has tweeted an update on the future of "Mortal Kombat X."
On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Ed Boon, "Mortal Kombat" co-creator and creative director at NetherRealm Studios, tweeted that fans can certainly look forward to new things this year.
"Mortal Kombat X will keep things fresh! More characters coming in 2016!" Boon tweeted.

Boon, however, failed to mention who these new characters will be.
Previously, the new characters included in "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 2 were revealed through a video (below) that was prematurely uploaded to the game's official YouTube channel. The new "Mortal Kombat X" DLC characters were supposed to be revealed during The Game Awards, but the video was uploaded earlier than it should have been.
The new guest characters were taken from two horror film series: Leatherface from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series and Xenomorph from the "Alien" franchise. Meanwhile, the two other characters that complete the DLC are Tri-Borg, which seems to be a combination of series favorites Cyrax, Sektor, and Robot, and master of the drunken fist Bo Rai Cho, one of the classic "Mortal Kombat" characters.
A recent rumor has also suggested that the "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 2 DLC will have a tie-in to a live action web series coming out this year. This web series has been dubbed "Mortal Kombat: Generations" by the grapevine.
Asked for updates on "Mortal Kombat: Generations," Garrett Warren, director of the said web series, confirmed its release date by saying, "@alexcampy89 it is scheduled to be released early next year."
Based on his response, Design & Trend speculates that the "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 2 will be paired with the live action series as it lines up very closely with the DLC's rollout. There is no official announcement regarding this tie-up as of the moment.
