'Mortal Kombat X' News, Updates: Could Kombat Pack 3 be the Big Reveal at Evo for 'Mortal Kombat X'?
'Mortal Kombat X' is Not Dead Yet
"Mortal Kombat X" has been one of the most successful fighting games coming out of the Nether Realms Studios to date. The game won the best fighting game of the year as well as smashed sales records from all the previous installments in the long-running series.
However, many fans believed that the game would pretty much nose dive after the reveal of "Injustice 2" during this year's E3 convention.
Ed Boon's Not-So-Cryptic Tweets
The good news for "Mortal Kombat X" fans is that Nether Realms Head Developer Ed Boon has been leaving not so cryptic tweets on his twitter account that things are not yet over for the game.
In one tweet he left a message stating that big things are still in store for "Mortal Kombat X" and that fans should tune into EVO this year for a big announcement regarding the game. But what could this announcement be?
Kombat Pack 3
Most followers of "Mortal Kombat X" believe that Kombat Pack 3 will be the big reveal at EVO. It would make perfect sense since Nether Realms would not put in new content like DLC characters or balance adjustments right before the biggest fighting game tournament of the year.
Those who have played the story mode of "Mortal Kombat X" know that there are still some characters who appear in the game and have finished moves that are not playable on the active roster. Some of these characters include "Mortal Kombat" veterans Sindel, Baraka and Rain.
Fans are also hoping for new characters to be revealed since each Kombat Pack has had "guest" characters available for DLC. These DLC characters include Jason from the "Friday the 13th" franchise, Leatherface from the "Chainsaw Massacre" films, a predator and an alien.
Costumes and Balance Adjustments
Each DLC Kombat Pack also comes with its own set of new and retro costumes for several characters. These costumes have become quite popular with the gaming community, especially the retro ones.
But what is most important is the potential balance changes a new Kombat Pack could include. As it stands, there are some characters that need some serious nerfing as they are deemed too strong while there are also several characters and fighting styles that need a boost to be playable competitively.
The EVO fighting games championships are still about a month away so a lot can change from now until then. However, if Ed Boon says expect something, gamers have learned he is going to say something important.
