Moto X 2nd Generation Model to Feature 5.2-inch Display, 2GB RAM and More
The Moto X 2nd generation model could have shown up in recent benchmarks that revealed specifications for a high-end handset made by Motorola.
A device with the model number XT912A appeared in these benchmark results. Coincidentally this is the same number Motorola used to categorize the first Droid Razr in 2011, however, numbers could be faked or re-used for newer devices in order to hide its identity.
The use of this number could also mean that this device is meant to be a successor to the Razr. Either way, Motorola is working on a high-end smartphone fit to compete with the likes of the Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One M8.

Specs revealed from the results include a 5.2-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, a 2-megapixel front camera, a 12-megapixel rear shooter and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Although Android Authority points to this possibly being a Droid successor, it doesn't make sense for Motorola to put these kind of specs into a phone that is no longer the flagship for the company. A variant of the successor of the Moto X could be in the works, or this could even be the only model that will see the light of day later this year.
The larger display certainly places this device in the phablet category, but it can also play in the regular smartphone arena as some companies have opted to make their flagships have 5-inch screens.
The new Moto X device is expected to launch sometime in the coming months. The rumored name for the handset is the Moto X+1 which seems a little hokey and might be changed before launch.
