Moto X Pure Edition & Moto X Play are first to receive Android M in Motorola, company just waiting for the code
Google's latest mobile OS Android 6.0 Marshmallow is highly anticipated by many. Fans are looking forward to saying goodbye to Android Lollipop and meeting the new update. But just like any other product, everything goes by process. According to International Business Times, the search engine is expected to roll out the OS first to LG's Nexus 5 (2015) and Huawei Nexus by late September or early October. Afterwards, the OS will then be deployed to the other devices including Motorola.
Last July, the company released its latest flagship smartphones which are the Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X Play. Since they are the latest in the list, they are also the devices expected to first get the Android 6.0 update. According to a report by Yibada, the release of the OS to the devices will be very soon. Reports say that it will be equipped with the Android Marshmallow before the year ends.

The Moto X Pure Edition is now available from Motorola's official website and costs $400. It carries with it a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm along with a 3GB RAM, a large 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a 21-megapixel rear camera and upto 64GB built-in memory. Meanwhile, the Moto X Play is the smaller variant with a price tag that is more affordable. It has a 5.5-inch full HD screen and boasts a 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. It also has a 2GB RAM, a 21-megapixel primary camera and a larger 3630 mAh battery. It's currently unavailable in the US but reports say that it will arrive soon in the region.
As soon as the Android Marshmallow is ready for rollout, different devices will be receiving it at different times since it is said to be released as an "over-the-air upgrade." Sources say that users can expect the upgrade to come with a size of more than 500 MB because it is a major upgrade. This software update can be checked if it is already available. Users will just simply go to "Settings" then choose "About device" and then "Check for Software Update."
According to The Indian Express, Motorola director product management Carl Steen said that they are now just waiting for the code for the new Android M update from Google.
"We will be first to roll out Android M whenever next version comes, possibly by Q1 2016," Steen said.
