Moto X Pure Edition: Nougat Coming to Moto X Pure?

Motorola has been lagging behind when it comes to Android updates recently, so it is no surprise that the Moto X Pure phones, which have been out in the market as early as two years ago, are still waiting for their update to Android 7 Nougat. That may change in a short while, as test software is now being recently offered to Moto X Pure owners in the United States starting.

Motorola has been recently sending out a message to some Moto X Pure owners in the United States. Android Police thinks that this could signal a "soak test" for the Android Nougat.

The message received by Moto X Pure owners begins by thanking them for the feedback that they provide. "Thanks for your interest in providing fast feedback about the upcoming software opportunity for the Moto X Pure. We rely on feedback from actual end-users to make the final determination about the readiness of our software," the email reads.

In the next part of the email, owners are then offered a chance to get an advance preview of upcoming software. "If you decide to take part and if you qualify, you will receive software in advance of most owners. We would appreciate your quick feedback via a private community we will provide. We will also distribute one or more surveys to get your evaluation of the process and the software," the email continues. As the company has already promised an eventual upgrade to Android 7 Nougat, the software mentioned could be the long-awaited update from Motorola.

Soak testing is a method to ensure that the new Android release is verified to perform well and is stable for a new device, by observing how the Android Nougat does on the Moto X Pure phones over an extended period of time.

Motorola Moto X Pure Edition units that run Android 7 have already been spotted as early as December last year, according to Droid Report. It would seem that Motorola is now getting ready to roll out the latest Android after these test batches, so Moto X Pure owners should stay tuned.
