Motorola Droid Razr - The World's Slimmest Smartphone

The Droid Razr has been unveiled as the world’s slimmest smartphone, with Motorola cdescribing the phone as “impossibly thin.”

With a stainless-steel core, a Gorilla Glass screen and a nanotechnology Splash-guard that protects even the electrical boards insides.

The Driod Razr’s thickness is 7.1mm. It was declared as the “world’s thinnest smartphone” by Motorola Mobility president Sanjay Jha.

In addition to extreme thinness, it will run on Verizon Wireless’s 4G LTE network.

A hopeful competitor to the iPhone, the Droid Razr boasts a chip with more power than the iPhone as well as a faster wireless connection. The device costs $299, a much higher price tag than the $199 iPhone 4S.

According to MSNBC’s Gadget Box, the 4.3 screen has qHD resolution and is not LCD but Super AMOLED like Samsung’s Galaxy phones. Jha told users that they could expect higher contrast and richer color than iPhone 4S. She said it would be the “first device to download HD movies from Netflix.”

Droid Razr runs on Gingerbread Software Android 2.35. In order for it to run on full Firefox browser, users can dock it to one of Motorola’s lapdocks since the device supports the webtop interface like Droid Bionic, Atrix, Photon and others. It also enables users to automatically switch from ring to vibrate when going to church.

Jha said MotoCast, a syncing system, is one of the most important features of the smartphone.

“You can stream content from your computer straight to your pocket (or purse) so your personal content is always within reach,” said the press release. “And, because you don’t have to upload to a third-party site, you’re saving time while gaining peace of mind. That’s right- your files stay safe because they stay with you.”

The Droid Razr will be available on Verizon early November for $299.99 with a 2-year contract.
