Motorola G5 and G5 Plus Release Date, Specs Rumors: Leaked Photos Showcase New Device; Unveiling to Happen at MWC?
Motorola has not been very active in the smartphone industry as of late, apart from last year's G4 Plus. However, news of the company getting ready to release a new installment in its G series have been circulating thanks to a new leak.
According to The Verge, leaked photos of the purported G5 Plus have been released online. This is not the first time Motorola has been the victim of a smartphone leak. Last year, similar renders also made their way to the internet. Interestingly enough, the new photos showcase a smartphone that looks the same as the one from last year's leaks.
The upcoming smartphone is reportedly going to feature a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and either a 12 or 13 MP camera. It has been said that its measurements will be 150.2 x 74 x 7.9 mm, with a weight of 155 grams. Under the hood, the G5 Plus is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and a 3,080 mAh battery. It will be running on the latest Android operating system, the Nougat. In terms of memory, the device will have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage.
As for the standard G5, it is widely speculated to have a 5-inch display. A 12 or 13 MP rear camera will also be found on the device, along with a 5 MP front-facing snapper like the G5 Plus. Its processor will be less impressive compared to its bigger sibling, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 rumored to be onboard. Memory-wise, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage are speculated.
Motorola is expected to unveil the G5 Plus, along with the standard G5, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. The highly anticipated technology event will be held in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of the month. Should this be true, then it is believed that the Motorola G5 and G5 Plus will make its way to the market by March.
